Classes

LEADING LADIES SWING FESTIVAL 2020

About the class structure:

Students will have the choice of one track per day. Each track consists of 4 hours of lessons in the same dance style. This has been done to allow students to delve into the subject at hand. There will not be any auditions/level checks, but we strongly recommend students to read through track descriptions and possible skill requirements to determine whether they'd benefit from the track in question.

Choosing a track and dance role(s):

With a full pass, you can mix between styles and dance roles Saturday and Sunday, picking from the Theme and Core tracks as you see fit. For instance, you can choose to take the Boogie Woogie Class Saturday as a follow, and the Lindy Hop CM class Sunday as a lead, or the Collegiate Shag MV Saturday as a lead and the Aerials track Sunday as a flyer. When choosing the option "switch" in the registration form, you are letting us know that you fullfill the requirements in either role for the track in question. Choosing the "switch" option will help balance the class as well as avoiding waiting lists.

Core Tracks:

Core tracks are taught for 8 hours during the weekend, 4 hours each day.
The Core Tracks are:
Lindy Hop, Balboa & Collegiate Shag. Each day, the core tracks will have a specific focus - either Moves & Variations (MV) or Connection & Musicality (CM). These focus points are all essential for improving your dancing, both socially and for performances, so whatever your goal, either class-type is helpful. Of course there will be an overlap in the sense that many moves cannot be taught without talking about connection, and it's hard to practice connection without moves for context. Both focus-points are suitable for higher level dancers as the concepts explored will be helpful whatever skill-level you are.
If in doubt if a level is suitable for you, don't hesitate to ask in the registration form
or message us at: leadingladies@topspotcph.dk

Moves & Variations (MV)
Classes will offer a variety of moves, so if you're looking to expand your horizon and learn some cool tricks and flashy footwork, this is for you. It is recommended that you have at least 2 years of experience in the role and dance in question to make sure everyone benefits as much as possible from the class.

Connection & Musicality (CM)
Classes will offer exercises on improving connection with your partner, what to listen for in the music and how to dance to it, as well as connection-based moves. For these classes an understanding of the basic footwork of the dance is necessary, as that will create the foundation for the lessons. A general rule of thumb is having danced for at least 6 months.
